i is a wild thing.

after talking with two of my most favorite people (yes, yes YOU emily and joe!), i have discovered they share in a common a great love for Where the Wild Things Are. i find a sudden longing for piles of the perfect thin hardcover, happily worn, children's books. i like how they all felt, sort of soft to hold. and pictures that were familiarly pressed into my memory. i remember how Angelina Ballerina was colored in just the right pink. And that Stephen Kellogg made mice sailing to a faraway island so magical. The children's faces in his books were delightfully round and expressive.

There is a great Softness all around me these days, and I would just like to say small thank yous to the world around. for these thoughts of children's books, and for pandora playing my favorite music in the empty 'physician's workroom' in the medical icu at 2 in the morning. i am so thankful for a new house to think about living in, what a relief. and that blessedly these night shifts spare me from 4 hour rounds in the morning. thank you, thank you dear soft night.

if piles of children's books is what you want...come on over! i live in fear of how much $$ i would owe the library if our apartment burned down:)
